The Ireton Community Foundation provides funding to non-profit organizations and local units of government that serve the people of Ireton.  The foundation is rooted in the vision of the late Erlene (Parrott) and Ed Kading.  When the fund was established in 2000, Erlene commented, "My husband and I had discussed this many times before his death in 1998. We wanted to plant the first seeds to establish an endowment fund that would support the social, economical, cultural and charitable needs of the community.  A community that we were proud to call home."  After Erlene passed away in 2001, funds were added to the foundation.

The purpose of the fund is to connect donors who care with causes that matter and enhance the quality of life in Ireton.  It is governed by an advisory board made up of local residents.

Grants are made in six categories:  arts and culture, civic, education, environment, health and human services.  In the past, grants have been made to the City of Ireton; West Sioux Community School - Ireton Center; Ireton Area Historical Society; Hope Haven, Inc.; Ireton Christian School; Ireton Community Clinic; Ireton Booster Club; Ireton Fire Department and other groups.

Grant applications are due by April 15 of each year with grant awards made in mid-June.
