The Ireton Area Historical Society (IAHS) was founded in
1978 to preserve the history of Ireton and its
surrounding townships and to share that history with the
public. The charter members were inspired by the
U.S. Bicentennial celebrated in 1976 and by the
then-upcoming centennial of Ireton's founding.
Early members of the IAHS preserved and shared the town's history through the publication of the "Centennial Book": Ireton, A Proud History, 1882-1982. We are now delighted to be able to share some of that history with you via the Internet.
We hope that you enjoy the slideshows and history information. If you have information or photos that you would like to add or if you have questions about Ireton's history or about your Ireton area family history, please feel free to contact the IAHS.
